Property Fraud is one of fastest growing crimes in America today. Homeowners at risk of foreclosure have become a target for predators seeking to profit from their misfortunes. Criminals simply record a document at the Recorder making it appear they own or have placed a lien on the property.

Since the best time to detect possible property fraud is as early as possible, the Kane County Recorder is providing the free PROPERTY WATCH service to automatically notify you of any documents being recorded against your property. Once you sign up, you will receive an email notification whenever a document is recorded against the property, with a link to the document. There is no charge for the alert service, and no charge to view the document.

GIS Fee Increase
Effective October 1, 2024, in accordance with Illinois Revised Statute 55 ILCS 5/3-5018, GIS, having performed a cost study, Kane County Board Resolution 24-362 was passed on September 10, 2024, increasing the GIS fee. The current Twenty-Six Dollars ($26) collected by the Recorder’s Office will be increased to Forty-Eight Dollars ($48). The Recorder will keep One Dollar ($1) and the remaining Forty-Seven Dollars ($47) will be deposited into the GIS Fee Fund for the continued advancement of the countywide Geographic Information System.

Effective October 1, 2024, the cost to record a standard document will be $99. Prices effective for non-standard documents will be posted at our website.

Introducing MyDec
The Kane County Recorder's Office is pleased to announce our latest technology which electronically processes Property Transactions (PTAX-203 forms) through MyDec. MyDec is a new electronic system that handles Real Property Transfer Tax transactions through the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Our office houses quite an array of services from our Recording Department, the Copy Center, Scanning, Data Entry, and last but not least, our Tract Department.
